Berendsen Opens Colossal Cylinder SupaCentre In Perth

The Cylinder SupaCentre: Purpose-Built For High-Speed Cylinder Repair

Officially opened in September 2025, the Cylinder SupaCentre is Berendsen’s brand new, state-of-the-art facility purpose-built exclusively for hydraulic cylinder repairs. It is engineered from the ground up to deliver the fastest turnaround times in the industry, with the needs of Western Australia’s mining sector in mind.

This colossal 6,900 m² facility is built around a high-speed production-line model designed to streamline the repair process, eliminate lag, and maximise efficiency. Every element – from layout and equipment design to digital workflow integration – works together to keep cylinders moving and downtime to an absolute minimum.

It’s more than a faster repair –  it’s a new standard in hydraulic cylinder service.

More Than A Bigger Workshop – It’s A Purpose-Built Repair Production Line

Every square metre of the 6,900m² facility is engineered solely for the repair and rebuild of hydraulic cylinders in a fluid workflow. From disassembly to inspection, machining, reassembly and testing, each step takes place in dedicated sections moving from one to the next in a streamlined process.

Custom-engineered equipment allows heavy components to be handled swiftly. While a fully integrated digital workflow system governs every stage, ensuring strict repair standards and streamlined processing. The result is a safer, faster, and more consistent repair model that sets a new benchmark for hydraulic cylinder maintenance.

“With the Cylinder SupaCentre, we set out to build more than WA’s largest and most advanced hydraulic facility. It represents a complete rethink of the hydraulic cylinder repair process to eliminate as much lag as possible with rigorous adherence to our repair procedures quality standards. For mine operators, that means the fastest turnaround and the confidence of Berendsen’s proven quality.” – James Leach, Executive General Manager, Berendsen Fluid Power.

How The SupaCentre Reduces Repair Time In Every Possible Way

The mission of the Cylinder SupaCentre is simple – to cut turnaround times to an absolute minimum, getting as close to zero downtime as possible.

1. Cylinder Service Exchange Program – Wide Range Ready When You Are

The SupaCentre maintains a large on-hand inventory of fully refurbished mining cylinders, ready for immediate swap. When a matching unit is available, customers can exchange their worn cylinder straight off the machine and get back to work the same day. The returned unit is then repaired to OEM specifications, tested, documented, and returned to stock. There’s no exchange fee – you pay only for your cylinder’s repair.

2. Production-Line Repair Process – Streamlining Efficiency

The SupaCentre performs repairs on a continuous production-line model, where cylinders move through dedicated zones for each stage of repair. This streamlined approach minimises handling time, prevents bottlenecks, and enables multiple cylinders to be processed simultaneously.

3. Comprehensive In-House Capabilities – More Control  Without Delays

The Supacentre unites every critical stage of hydraulic cylinder repair, ensuring complete control over quality, scheduling, and turnaround time. With specialised equipment and expert technicians handling machining, plating, honing, assembly, and testing, repairs move seamlessly through the production line without delays or external dependencies.

4. Custom-Engineered Equipment – Improving Handling Speed & Safety

Every workstation within the SupaCentre features custom-designed benches, handling systems, and equipment that minimise downtime, optimise safety, and ensure precision at every step. The result is a faster, more consistent, and more reliable repair process – setting a new benchmark for hydraulic cylinder maintenance in Australia.

5. Rolling Stock of Component Inventory – Eliminating Time Lost in Procurement

To keep repairs moving, high-demand cylinders and components are pre-emptively repaired and held in rolling stock, ready for immediate use. This proactive approach ensures that replacements and critical parts are always available.

6. Digital Workflow Management System – 100% Adherence to Repair Procedures

Overseeing the entire operation is an integrated digital workflow system that tracks every job, every step, and every component. This ensures transparency, consistency, and speed – enabling technicians and managers to monitor progress in real time and keep the production line moving.

In-house Hard Chrome Plating: A Massive Time Saver

One of the greatest advantages of the Cylinder SupaCentre is its direct connection to Berendsen’s dedicated hard chrome plating facility – the largest and most advanced in Australia.

Our state-of-the-art electroplating system is purpose-built for oversized hydraulic cylinders used in heavy mobile equipment and mining machinery, enabling us to handle even the longest and most demanding rods with precision and efficiency.

By keeping this process in-house, Berendsen ensures consistent quality and minimises delays.
